How to Count the Days Until New Year’s
You can count the days until New Year’s in a few different ways. The easiest is to use our New Year’s countdown calculator, but you can also use a time duration calculator.
If the current month is December, then you can find how many days are left using subtraction. Subtract the current day from 31, since New Year’s is on January 1st, which is the first day of the next month. There are 31 days in December.

If the current month is not December, then you’ll need to add the days left in the current month to the days in each month until the end of the year.
days until New Year’s = days left in current month + days in next month + … + days in December
You can use the same method to find how many days until Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or any other significant date.
For instance, if it’s currently October 25th, then you can find the days until New Year’s like this:
days until New Year’s = 6 + 30 + 31
days until New Year’s = 67 days
In this example, there are 6 days remaining in the current month, plus 30 days in November, plus 31 days in December. Thus, there are 67 days left.
